Message From the President
This gives me immense pleasure to write a few words on behalf of the president of EGBOSA.
EGBOSA (Ex-Gandaki Boarding Students’ Association) is an alumni organization of our alma mater Gandaki Boarding School. EGBOSA was established in 1992 and since then it has been very actively involved in social service and other humanitarian activities in close proximity of the school.
As an alumni association of one of the most prominent and prestigious national schools, ex-students of the school are spread across different fields all over the world. It is a matter of pride to represent all those students in a single umbrella organization. As we have been nurtured with the motto “Knowledge-Character-Service” we have been following the same footprints in our professional life as well. Apart from our individual businesses and professions, Ex-Gandakians are united to create a common platform to serve our alma mater and different aspects of our society during needy times.
Bhanu Poetry Competition, EGBOSA Trophy/Awards, Medical Camps, Student Orientation programs, etc. are among a few notable activities carried out by EGBOSA annually within the premises of the school. Apart from the activities inside the school EGBOSA is equally involved in activities in different aspects of social life. EGBOSA was among the key organizers of the Travelling Film South Asia- 2004, Fewa Film Festival -2005, Travelling Mountain Film- 2007. These events were a grand success which raised the fame of EGBOSA at national levels. Similarly, EGBOSA has always been at the forefront at times of natural calamities within the nation. We put a very significant effort to help the victims of the 2015 Earthquake. Our projects were primarily focused on Gorkha. We have been putting equal efforts to help the victims of floods and landslides in other years.
This year we have been putting our tireless efforts to provide rations to the daily wage workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemics. Also, our efforts are there for the medical personnel fighting against COVID19 at the frontline.
EGBOSA has another very significant project- EGBOSA Scholarship Trust. This was initiated during the Golden Jubilee Celebration of our alma mater in 2015/16. Our objective behind the Trust is to assist the school/college in its unique scholarship program. We have so far collected and saved 3.3 million rupees. Our aim is to make a minimum of 10 million rupees in the initial fund of trust before initiating any service from this trust. In a gradual time, we aim to raise this fund to 100 million and fully support the school in the scholarship program. With this, we would like to show a significant presence of Ex-students in the well-being of the school and at the same time help the school to establish a sustainable basis for the scholarship program on its own.
All these activities of EGBOSA have been possible due to the unrivaled, selfless support from a large pool of Ex-students of GBS who are always ready to spread their hands for our alma mater and our society and nation. I would like to extend the most sincere thanks to the cooperation our fellow ex-students have been extending in the activities of EGBOSA and would like to get similar cooperation in the days to come as well.
Thank you!
Kamal Bahadur Shrestha
President, EGBOSA
